Jane Wolfe Diary Entry Friday, 12 April 1940
Class developed into an excellent discussion last night and Mellinger [Frederic Mellinger] gave much of value, especially after Regina [Regina Kahl] came. Her present state of rebellion came up, when he frankly put his finger on the sore and told her Thelema had nothing to do with it—that she had resentment and prejudices to eradicate—that she wanted big audiences to function before to the applause of the multitudes—that all her tremendous energies were being used to rage at conditions, attack this and that for release, create problems so she can battle them. "Release yourself in the Ritual Sunday night: to your benefit, our benefit, and benefit far beyond the narrow confines of Winona Boulevard.
I am O, so grateful for Mellinger, who can put things intelligently, forcefully and understandingly before one. Wilfred [Wilfred Talbot Smith] somewhat lacking in this respect. M.[ellinger] also helped Lu [Luther Carroll], who too has been in a state of revolt.
